LOVELY NOTES SENT TO ME REGARDING MY ARTWORK...

  • From my dear friend Mystele about my Mermaid
"Oh, Pam! she turned out great!!! go 'head on wit-cha bad self!"
  • From Sandra Evertson
    "Absolutely Fabulous!"
  • From The Lovely Miss Paula
"I laughed out loud. This sounds so familiar with 4 kids..."
  • From Christi
"Hmmmm...this may be another print that I MUST have! How stinkin' adorable!" :-)
  • GINIA said:
"...So beautiful, muted and comforting. A sense of peace with a prayer on the back. That is how I would describe your work. A prayer within art."
  • DAWN said:
"There's something about your paintings that invokes a particular feeling, no matter whether the accompanying quote is funny, poignant, joyful, wistful.... I can't seem to shape the words in my mind to where they make sense, but "warmth," "intimacy," "cozy," "safety," and "rich" are some of them, and that still doesn't seem to quite nail it... It's really almost more of a deeply-felt emotion than something that can be expressed verbally. I'm wondering if the feeling you have when you're creating them is what's coming through...?"
  • CINDY said:
"Oh wow! These are soooooooo freakin cool! I love em!"

Grandma Loves You...

Believe It Anyway picnik

I was talking to a customer in my shop one day and she said something very similar to what is in my painting above. I asked her if I could use and re-phrase it a bit, and this is what I came up with.

I cherish the memories of my Grandmother Edith. She made each of us feel dearly loved, wanted and accepted.  Now that I'm a Grandmother of 6 myself I understand her more and miss her more.
I'd love to see her one more time. She was a teacher, 1 room school house, and she worked with the Judge of Kane County, Illinois. She died from Alzheimer's disease. When she was young she loved us to lay our heads on her lap. She would stroke our hair, ask about our day. The last time I saw her in her home she had no idea of who I was. She was sitting on her glider looking at all the strangers standing around her and I just lay my head in her lap. "I love you Grandma. " I whispered to her. Her hand began the familiar stroking of my hair. She must have wondered "who this great big, grown woman was (she thought her own children were babies), and what she was doing on her lap"!!! But the maternal instincts still sent her hand gently to my hair anyway. I may not be as wonderful or important as my dear Grandmother thought I was, but I will try to believe it anyway...you too.

Blessings, Pamella Ann
(Grandma always used my full name- which is pronounced PamElla)

I just listed her in my etsy. She is beautiful with your name in the crown...either as Grandma or Grandchild.

30th Anniversary

Marriage Annoy-large picnik

Staying in, watching a movie that our daughter bought her dad for Father's Day, and just enjoying the time together.
Can't believe that the Lord's blessed us with another anniversary. Those who saw John before the lung transplant know what I mean...oy vey! I'm more thankful than I could ever express.
I have two Marriage paintings, this is the Sassy one, the sweet one says, "They lived happily ever after and she loved him forever and a day." You know I had to go for the sassy one. Dang!
Got a letter from Legacy yesterday welcoming me to their family. Woohoo and happy dance all rolled into one. The boxed set comes out in Spring of 09, I have to be finished with the design by July 15th of next month...
Blessings to you all,
Pam

Fun on Ebay

My husband and I had so much fun bidding on paintings by Mystele. We won quite a few and we can't wait to see them in person. If you check out our blog, Faith Folk Cafe you can see her in action. She's blogged a fast motion Youtube tutorial of her house painting, (I think I just won that one :)

This blog tonight is all about a FAVORITE BLOG SITE of mine and that is Mystele's. She is a Youth Pastors wife and mom, artist, singer and songwriter. We have so MUCH in common - (my husband teaches at our church and works with the Children's Sunday School, I'm a mom/grandmother, an artist, singer and songwriter.) And we both blog for Faith Folk Cafe.

Her work just makes me happy :) and I love the scripture that she incorporates into the paintings. She uses bees wax as a sealer, now how fun is that! (Using bees wax was always something I wanted to play with) and she shows you how on the Youtube tutorial.

One her website/blog she describes the art on Faith Folk as "soul food". A perfect description.
She lives in the town that I ran downstate in for track in Junior High. I fell on the cinders and carry bits of cinder in my knee to this day.
So, we started bidding on Mystele's work on ebay and we enjoyed ourselves completely. After I posted the initial bids husband took over until the bidding ended.
Mystele puts her work on ebay and then leaves it there in God's hands.
Happy Tuesday Mystele-this blog is dedicated to you!
Blessings,
Pam

Cowboy Swap

Cowboy Swap

Jenelle, your swap items are on the way! Woohoooo, it only took me three days to find the address that you'd sent. Too many places on the computer for them to hide, short term memory loss does NOT help :)

Earrings for Cowboy swap

A watercolor print of mine: Real Cowboys Don't Take Baths. A book mark and a pair of handmade earrings. Jenelle, these are winging their way to you tomorrow.
Blessings,
Pam

Happy Father's Day to everyone

I feel like I'm never around anymore. My shop demands so many more hours in the summer. I should fire myself and get it over with! But, since that's not an option I just wanted to touch base. Hope you all are getting over to FaithFolk and..... Happy Father's Day.
I may be auctioned at Slotin's again. The guy that bought my first piece came in and bought another. It's a collage (that I have to get off Etsy) as soon as I post this.
Blessings,
Pam

I paint with Artist grade Windsor Newton watercolors, though I am not an art-snob and will buy any brand/grade if it's a color I love. I also paint with coffee, a technique I've developed over the years. The originals smell great! I also use ink, acrylic, gloss, sparkles or whatever it takes to achieve the look I want in a piece. The paper I use is usually Strathmore cold-press, #140. My paintings are then taken to my printer and his printing press.
